In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Seriously, how often is the true definition of jihad mentioned?
Jihad (Struggle/Striving) is struggling to earn the favor of God. The greater jihad, "al-Jihad al-Akbar", is the struggle against the evil within one's own soul. The lesser jihad, "al-Jihad al-Asghar", is where one fights on the battlefield in defense of his religion when attacked.
Allah (swt) says in the Qur'an:
"Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.
And if ye do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out:
But if ye show patience, that is indeed the best (course) for those who are patient.
And do thou be patient, for thy patience is but from Allah; nor grieve over them: and distress not thyself because of their plots.
For Allah is with those who restrain themselves, and those who do good."
{Surah An-Nahl: 125-128}

Assalamualaykum sis, may Allah swt reward you for spreading the good word of Islam =)
Short and simple. Jazakallh :).
But tbh I don't think the problem is people (Muslims) not going out there and telling people the true message of Islam, as there is countless literature, countless forums held etc etc. I think there is also a problem or shortcoming, call it what you choose, with people who think Islam is barbaric and violent blah blah blah. They choose to see only that which they wish to see.
But I guess it's our responsibility to keep trying.
May the Almighty reward with the choicest of His blessing for your efforts in His cause.
:)
Thank you for clearing things for us. Jihad is so wrongly used in the media that it scares most of people.
May God bless you for showing the true face of Islam. We need more voices like yours to spread the Truth.
